creating intention

okay now you should have a clear sense of what it is you want to accomplish this year – what your goals are
before you begin the action steps toward those goals i would like you to do an excersize
close your eyes and relax
breathe deeply and slowly in thru your nose out thur your mouth allowing all your indiviaual body parts to relax tense each and then relax it if that helps but take time out and just relax
if it helps go to a safe and comfortable place either a place you have been to and feel relaxed and confortable in or a place of your imagination
once you are relaxed imagine yourself , your life, the people around you, the work you will be doing etc one year from now imagine in other words htat you have achieved your goals
picture yourself healthier because you have lost the weight you wanted and have been excersizing, picture yourself in your new ideal job , see yourself in a new relationship whatever your goals were create that for yourself in your minds eye
if it all fits
if it all feels right and good
put it out in the universe say to yourself or even out loud this is the life i want to creat and this is the life i will create this year
i will accomplish – fill in the what you want to accomplish
and put it out there in the universe as your intention
the principle of creating an intention is this’
What do you want to receive in life? Besides the obvious physical goals we all have in mind, what do you crave on a deeper level? Allow yourself to feel
what you want. Resonate it outwards and it will come into you.
you must however be clear on what it is you want to manifest and that has been the purpose of these steps up til now
and of course now you need to be the cause of the effect so next we will talk about creating the action!!
stay tuned

okay you have identified the things you want to accomplish for yourself this year
you have written them down as specifically and detailed as possible
you’ve identified for yourself the benefits to you in accomplishing these goals
now what?
first, if there are some goals on your list that you are not finding benefits for perhpas those are goals you are not ready to start working on yet, perhpas there aare no benefits and they are someone else’s goals for you
let’s put those aside if there are any for now and address the goals tht you are clear on accomplishing this year

look at the goal again and now ask yourself will i know if i have been able to avvomplish this goal and how will i know
okay that sounds simple right but be sure
if your goal is i want to find a new job that is satisfying the answer is i’ll know i have accomplished it when i have the new job
if your goal is to lose weight you’ll know by the scale
be sure your goals are specific enough tht you will be able to tell when you have accomplished them
now i’ll stick in the A and the R here
Attainable
Realistic
are these goals attainnable?
is it realistic for you to have a goal of losing 50 lbs in 1 year?
is it realistic and attainable for you to have a new job this year?
if the answer is yes okay we will move on to next steps in the next posts
if the answer is no
go back reevaluate and make the goals attainavble and realistic
no point in creating a goal that is unreaslitic from the get go – then you are setting yourself up
if your goal is to run a triathalon this year – but you haven’t so much as walked a mile in 10 years that might not be the most realistic goal and you will be setting yourself up for failure
so what if you made your goal a marathon at the end of the year or a half marathon

now go back and make sure your goals are at attainable in the time frame you have set up
perhpas 50 lbs is a more realistic goal for 1 year than 100 lbs

remember smart planning and realistic goal setting and good action plans are the difference between a new years’ resolution and a goal!!
get to work and see you next time

setting goals step 2

okay, now that you have finished writing out what you ope to accomplish this year take some time to review what you wrote
and think about why you want to accomplish these things
what are the benefits to you
if you want to start an excersize program – why? what is the benefit to you?
if you want to find a new job – why? what is the benefit to you?
ask yourself these questions for each of your goals
be clear on why you want to accomplish these goals
are they goals that will indeed benefit you
if you are not clear on the benefits to you take some time to think about it
you are less likely to accomplish something if there are not clear benefits to you and for tht matter you will be exerting time an energy toward accomplishing something that in fact you might not really want and it will take away your attention from working on what you really want
if it helps take a seperate piece of papter for each goal write the goal at the top of the page and then under that write the benefits to you

if you can not really come up with benefits or unclear about them they may not really be goals you want to accomplish this year and you may want to put those away for now and revisit them another time
take time and think and write

happy new year

well, it has been a while since I have posted. it has been a busy end of the year and start of the new year – first let me say happy new year to all of you!! I hope the holidays were good, relaxing and enjoyable.

Now that we are into the new year many of us start the year with great plans – this year I am going to lose weight, excersize more, spend more time with the family, be more organized…..
what often happenns with our new year resolutions? Right – they fly right out the window, and this years resolutins often become next year’s resolutions or we even just give up.

What happens is that we make resolutions and they are just that declarations of what will change what we want to have happen but what we don’t do is make our desires clear, specific, or detailed and we often don’t give them time frames , we don’t make realistic goals and most important our resolutions don’t have action steps attached to them there in lies the difference between a new year’s resolution and a goal

so let’s do it differently this year!
let’s make it happen so at the end of 2007 we can say I did it ! and not make this year’s resolutins the same in 2008

So here is something to remember
goals need to be SMART
not smart like they can add and subtract but here is what SMART stands for
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timely

so let us take it one step at a time
what I would like you to do is think about what you desire in your life
in relationships, your family, your bussiness, your finances, your health, your personal growth, what ever it is you desire and think big
journal your desires
be specific and as detailed as possible
what is it you want
and for that matter what is it you don’t want
take your time write often
that is the first step
we will get to the next step in the next post
remember be specific and detailed and don’t limit yourself!

avoiding overload and overwhelm

Think back about the last two weeks. Have you given yourself a break? Could you have politely said “no” when asked to do another task that was more important
to someone else than to you? Could you have found a better, less time-consuming answer?

You will be happier and work better if you are not overloaded, but you have to be purposefulabout your choices to make it happen.
When confronted with new demands ask yourself a few questions to help prioritize
does taking on this new task or project or demand futher you immediate goals?
By saying yes to this new deman what are you saying no to?
If I take on this new deman will I be as effective and efficient with the other demands of my life?
Is there someone else who can do this?

For people with ADD prioritizing is often difficult
before taking on a new demand take a few minutes -breathe- and ask yourself the questions
this strategy will help you prioritize and help you decide what you can and can not take on and can help you feel less overwhelmed and overloaded
it might even help to post a few of the question on little sticky notes and put them in your office, home car in your pda to remind you to stop ask and then make a choice

the benefits of meditation a list

• Increased brain wave coherence. Harmony of brain wave activity in different parts of the brain is associated with greater creativity, improved moral reasoning,
and higher IQ.
• Decreased anxiety.
• Decreased depression.
• Decreased irritability and moodiness.
• Improved learning ability and memory.
• Increased self-actualization.
• Increased feelings of vitality and rejuvenation.
• Increased happiness.
• Increased emotional stability.
• Deep rest-as measured by decreased metabolic rate, lower heart rate, and reduced work load of the heart.
• Lowered levels of cortisol and lactate-two chemicals associated with stress.
• Reduction of free radicals- unstable oxygen molecules that can cause tissue damage. They are now thought to be a major factor in aging and in many diseases.

• Decreased high blood pressure.
• Higher skin resistance. Low skin resistance is correlated with higher stress and anxiety levels.
• Drop in cholesterol levels. High cholesterol is associated with cardiovascular disease.
• Improved flow of air to the lungs resulting in easier breathing. This has been very helpful to asthma patients.
• Younger biological age. On standard measures of aging, long-term Transcendental Meditation (TM) practitioners (more than five years) measured 12 years
younger than their chronological age.
• Higher levels of DHEAS in the elderly. An additional sign of youthfulness through Transcendental Meditation (TM); lower levels of DHEAS are associated
with aging.

these benefits have implications for people with add/adhd, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma and other pulminary disorders, people who want to slow down the aging process, be more on top of thier game etc etc etc

so tommorrow i will share with you a few books you might be interested in reading and that will end a week of writing on meditation
hope some of this was helpful
hope you had an opportunity to begin mediating and have found it beneficial
and you will keep going with it
and if you haven’t yet tried meditating i hope this weeks posts will inspire you to try
again for more info you can always go to my web site www.transcendinglimitations.com
